Back then, Spector was simply a celebrated if reclusive record producer, who had not yet earned the ire of Beatles fans for his overdubs and arrangement changes on the posthumous Let It Be, nor that of society in general for his future criminal acts. It was, possibly in frustration as much as anything, that Harrison played Phil Spector his extensive demos in early 1970.
The foursome did all approve of Old Brown Shoe and Something, as we know, but All Things Must Pass was never pursued beyond the demo version that can be heard on Anthology 3. Perhaps the double-meaning – a musing of the transient nature of existence that doubled as a commentary on the fracturing Fabs – touched a raw nerve… But it turns out George Harrison actually had the most to say… When the serious rancour became clear, it was assumed that Lennon vs McCartney would be the narrative. McCartney would later describe that a wholly shared Fabs “wasn’t the right balance” and was “too democratic for its own good.” Now that George is writing a lot, we could put out a double album every month…” yet this was clearly not going to happen with antagonism rising.
Hmmmmmmm….Even in the anarchic annals of rock music, The Beatles’ split in 1970 was a messy affair. Then again, December would also be the anniversary of Wings' last tour, and the next Archives are rumoured to cover that period too.

The only other one who could take those release dates is Paul - and I wouldn't put it past MPL to ask if the Harrisons would prefer the December date so that an Archive can come the same time as the physical III Imagined.
In either case, the cramming of that, Ringo's EP and Paul's Lyrics book (which will no doubt be tied to the documentary on him) means that either All Things Must Pass comes late July/early August or in December. If the book is timed to the movie, that would mean Get Back is coming the same week as No Time To Die or the week after against both the latest Halloween sequel and a Ridley Scott comedy with Damon & Affleck - meaning in both cases, it's a lame duck release.īased on what's the present schedule, and assuming there's a delay, I can see Get Back being timed more for a release September 17th (against Boss Baby) or October 29th (where there's just one horror film with Keri Russel).
